March Madness 2018
March Madness was in full force at the Fairfield Middle School on March 15 & 16, 2018. 6th graders kicked off the tournament by working on projects in Social Studies where they studied the states of the schools they picked for March Madness. Students dressed up in support of their teams on those days.
Change to the School Calendar
Students will have class on Monday April 16th. Originally scheduled as a no school Teacher workday, it will now be used as a make-up up snow day. The last day off school for the 2017-2018 school year will remain as June 6th.
On February 14th students from PLTW classes got the opportunity to hear Dr. Peggy Whitson speak. Dr. Whitson has commanded the international space station twice and holds the record for most days in space for an American. She was born in Ringgold County and graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant. She talked about her life journey from rural Iowa to NASA, and described what it was like living in the space station. Her details of space station life were very interesting. She serves as a great role model for all.
